7 years ago Thomas Szabo directed a very unique short film, without dialogue and mixing computer-generated insects and real, non-animated landscape shots. After having discovered this film, French producer Philippe Delarue (Futurikon Films), immediately proposed to Thomas and to Hélène Giraud to develop a series of short programmes for TV and a theatrical feature film. This is Minuscule.A first then a second series of TV shorts were produced, earning critical and public acclaim worldwide. The film, which shares the same uniqueness but aims to be bigger and better, is going to need more time in the script writing and in the overall preparation. The shooting of the film, in 3D and cinemascope, starts today in the gorgeous settings of the South of France in the national parks of the Mercantour and the Ecrins. This is what this blog is all about.
Finding a location…
Let’s go back to last spring…
Before to start shooting, the director and his crew need to look for and find the right locations where to shoot.
To dig out the locations that correspond to the universe created by Hélène Giraud and Thomas Szabo, the director Thomas Szabo, helped by his assistant Nathalie Cohen Hadria and Mylène Ollivier, executive producer specialized in the Provence region, has travelled all over the “Provence” up country to find the perfect match that Nature offers. Follow their quest before the first images of the on-going shooting!
A Futurikon Films Production, in association with Le Pacte, les Editions Montparnasse, TPS Star and Cofanim 4. With the participation of CNC.
