Welcome to the blog of Minuscule!

7 years ago Thomas Szabo directed a very unique short film, without dialogue and mixing computer-generated insects and real, non-animated landscape shots. After having discovered this film, French producer Philippe Delarue (Futurikon Films), immediately proposed to Thomas and to Hélène Giraud to develop a series of short programmes for TV and a theatrical feature film. This is Minuscule.A first then a second series of TV shorts were produced, earning critical and public acclaim worldwide. The film, which shares the same uniqueness but aims to be bigger and better, is going to need more time in the script writing and in the overall preparation. The shooting of the film, in 3D and cinemascope, starts today in the gorgeous settings of the South of France in the national parks of the Mercantour and the Ecrins. This is what this blog is all about.

The Ecrins National Park: a magnificent setting for Minuscule!

23 July 2012 | Author: Julier

The  crew has settled for a few days in the Ecrins National Park to shoot the outdoor scenes of the film. These protected areas form a gorgeous setting, between natural grassland and sandstone terraces.

The crew composed of 20 people, in harmony with the unspoilt nature, uses advanced equipment to simulate the flight of the ladybug!

8 June 2012 | Author: Julier

Sunny memories from Cannes where was presented the guide of eco-production with the founders of the “Ecoprod” label!

Among the attendees were Eric Garandeau, the Director of CNC (National Center of Cinematography), Olivier-René Veillon, the Director of the film commission of the Île-de-France Region, Mathieu Tronquit, project manager sustainable development in the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur Region and Philippe Delarue, producer of the film, the latter came to present the eco-responsible commitment on the film, whose production is a pioneer. As an example, the shooting has complied and implemented many principles to mitigate and minimize its impact on the fragile environments of the protected areas of the Mercantour National Park.
